Addie Diaz
The video is very well made, and the quality and editing excellent. It was also a very pleasant surprise to hear Tito Puente’s Mambo music in the background! Content is always a factor for me, so I wanted to see just how much I could get out it, "move-wise". Addie presents to the viewer, a sultry Puerto Rican flavor of femininity and style. She has a Caribbean flavor that truly captures an audience. Being an International Performer and Instructor has allowed her the room to comfortably express in words exactly what she is demonstrating to the counts and measures of the music. You hear her talk about the move in the background, as she demonstrates it for the viewer. The video is primarily shine (solo) moves that the woman can do without a partner. From an educational standpoint, Addie makes the beginner feel comfortable with her body, demonstrating basic arm and hand movements. I particularly like the head toss moves during some of the more complicated shines she was demonstrating, as you can apply those movement during partner dancing as well. She then demonstrates more complex arm and footwork combinations, forcing the viewer to rewind and figure out the coordination between the feet and arms. The advanced Salsera will definitely find this video challenging as well. There is one move in particular where I had to rewind the video several times to finally "get it right". It was definitely a great move! The Addie Diaz’ Ladies Styling video is a "must have" for all Salseras interested in expanding their femininity and "shines repertoire" on the dance floor. I highly recommend it! Click
