Stella Filocco
Staff Instructor: Kids Latin Dance

Stella (Guerra) Filocco, is a north-east coast native.  She was born of a Cuban father and Colombian mother, in Newark, NJ.  Much of her childhood was spent with her family on the road, journeying through states, beginning in Elizabeth, NJ and eventually finding their way south and settling down in Tampa, Florida.  Being the child of truckers, she was engulfed by her parent’s love of different kinds of music they heard on/off the road, the arts and theater, her Latin heritage, and the different cultures up and down the east coast.  All of this mixture has cultivated her love of numerous genres of music, people and cultures, eventually paving her a path into the music and entertainment industry.  Her favorite pastime as a child was performing for all of her family and their friends.  Wherever she heard music was a chance to entertain.

Stella studied dance from the age of seven.  Fun Fact: Her first “big performance” was at age 9 in Sabado Gigante when she sang a song by Angela Carrasco titled, “Boca Rosa”.  After graduating from Leto High School, in Tampa where she performed as a Falconette, she spent the better portion of the following decade bouncing back and forth from NYC and Florida for schooling, while working full-time, majoring in dance: Ballet, Modern, Jazz, Hip-Hop, and Folk, and searching for her nook.  After realizing the best opportunities for her lay in the Big Apple, she settled in 2008 and made NYC her home base to build a foundation in the music and arts industry.  She continued to explore.  She studied and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Broadcast Media, Film, and Radio while interning at iHeart Radio.

Stella engulfed herself into the NYC culture where she earned a spot on IMDB as a Production Assistant for the film "See You Yesterday", directed by Stefon Bristol.  As she learned about film composition and directing, she continued moving onto music production, the visual arts, strengthening her core spiritually, intellectually and creatively, and refining her singing voice, in preparation for launching her Indie signing career.  Whatever line of work she took up to pursue her dreams, her passion for the arts has always been with her as the driving force.  Inspirations from an eclectic group of artists  and cultural influences has developed into the poppy-ness, the soulfulness, the artistry  that can all be seen in her creative visuals and heard and experienced through her EP’s found on all streaming platforms.  Her voice is a power house yet defined by her soft femininity.  Her imagery is fresh and inventive, expanding the depths of her music. It's been a lifelong dream to break into the arts scene so she took on her goals and passions by the horns and collaborated with underground and upcoming local artists, musicians, dance performers, and IRKO a Multi Platinum Award Winning Audio Engineer from Italy.  She’s performed as a solo artist at NYC venues such as Pianos, The Bowery Electric, Carroll Place, various Brooklyn music venues, and she performed with Bongo Bruno’s Funky Jazz Caravan at Lillie’s Times Square until she became a first time Mother.

Relocating to upstate New York with her husband and daughter has provided the opportunity to explore the outdoors and be in tune with nature and all of its many riches.  Stella and her family have been embraced by the small town charm they had hoped for.  Her community involvement has led her to become the President and Founder of BRC (Buchanan Running Club), a local running club, volunteer, and non-profit organization that has earned her and her team notoriety and recognition in the Village of Buchanan.  Physical and Mental Health and Fitness has always been important to her.  And so, with no surprise, it has taken the front seat as she’s taken on the role of parenthood.  Her website stellafilocco.com is her vision of a lifelong digital diary dedicated to her daughter and for any who seek to share in her experience.

As luck or fate or mere determination would have it, Stella has with great honor accepted a dream of an opportunity in working side by side with Addie Diaz as her Studio Assistant and Co-Instructor.  Learning all the aspects of performance has been reaching new heights as she teaches and builds long-lasting relationships with the Addie-tude students and staff.  As she describes her daily life, “Family, training, instructing, performing, running and positively impacting our community is what I live for.  I’m living the dream!”  Stella’s talent will not just cross but join numerous genres, connecting many from all walks of life to many sounds but to one love and one world.  She is truly excited to continue sharing her spirituality and creativity with her audiences and colleagues.
