Addie Diaz and the members of her Addie-Tude Dance Company performed their newest number "Cumbachero" at this year's New York Salsa Congress. The music in this routine is actually a combination of Ismael Rivera's Cumbachero and Eddie Palmeri's Malanga. The resulting fusion of these two songs have given the team a fast pace salsa-rumba full of energy and character. The choreography is actually part of a team effort which attempts to blend a little bit of old school movement with some new school dancing. Addie wanted to do something that was different from last year's Broadway themed "I Like It Like That" routine. So she decided to go for a more traditional mambo look complete with choice of music and costumes for this year's congress.

And speaking of Congresses. This marks the company's third appearance at David Melendez's NY Salsa Congress and we all agree that David has come a long way from his very first congress up in the Catskills, NY. We were all very pleased at the location (NY Hilton), the turn out (dancers from all over the world) and David's gift of having the shows run on time so that the audience can come in see the performances and then move out to the floor to get in a full night of social dancing. So if you haven't gone to the NY Salsa Congress yet, then make it a point to go next year and check out what is fast becoming the East Coast's top Salsa dancing event.
